Afghanistan resumes release of Taliban prisoners, Sohail Shaheen, spokesman for the Taliban’s political office in Qatar, called the release of Taliban prisoners a positive step towards the start of inter-Afghan talks.“The Afghan government has released some of our prisoners, a positive step towards inter-Afghan talks,” Sohail Shaheen, a spokesman for the Taliban’s political office in Qatar, told a foreign news agency.According to a Taliban Prison Commission group official, 200 Taliban prisoners have been released since Monday.On the other hand, the spokesman of the Afghan High Council for National Reconciliation said that all obstacles in the way of inter-Afghan talks have been removed, the exchange of prisoners will be completed soon, the negotiating team is fully prepared to go to Doha for inter-Afghan talks.It should be noted that under the Taliban-US deal in Qatar, the Afghan government had to release 5,000 Afghan soldiers, while the Taliban had to release 1,000 Afghan soldiers.
