Can I shorten the cooking time on a slow cooker by using High setting instead of Low?

Vapor Couture
I am making pot roast in my slow cooker. The recipe says cook it for 8 hours in Low setting.
But dinner time is coming in a few hours.

Can I cook it at High setting and reduce the cooking time? Is it going to make a big difference as in texture of the meat?

Does anyone have suggestion?

Thanks.

Not much you can do because a pot roast is going to take a good 6 hours of cooking time, even on high. I recently cooked swiss steak in a crock pot and it took 5 hours on high before the meat was as tender as I wanted it. It won't really change the texture of the meat though, I usually cook my roasts on high in the crock pot.

if you're in a hurry you might wanna slice it before you cook it ..Cooking time will be much faster and you dont have to sacrifice the texture....:)

Putting the Crock pot on High will definitely shorten the cooking time. If I don't have that much time I usually use the regular oven.
Put the oven on 400 for about 30 minutes. this will sear the outer edge and seal the juices in then turn the oven down to 350.
The cook time depends on the size of the roast
