Drinking lemon/lime water is actually very cleansing for your system. It's good for your liver, kidneys, and stomach. Although lemon and limes are acids they break down into alkaline when they hit your stomach. No it does not help your lose weight, although drinking lots of water is great for weight loss. If you want better digestion try drinking your liquids separate from your meals. Liquids water down your solids, and slow digestion. A slow digestion means it takes longer to burn off what you've eaten.

I'm drinking it now....it's high in vitamin c and cleanses the digestive tract, encouraging evacuation of waste.

Okay, Tracy doesn't know what she's talking about. The only good thing about lemon or lime water is that you're drinking WATER. Water hydrates the body and is important for metabolism. These cleanse diets do nothing except keep you hydrated. If more people drank water and not coffee, sodas, and beer, they'd be healthier.

Also, water doesn't slow digestion. It aids it. You'll find yourself eating less when you drink water before and with a meal. Water has no calories, so it doesn't add 'more food to burn off' as Tracy put it.

The only benefits are the WATER.
