I had the same problem with my pregnancy except mine it was almost the whole pregnancy. I would feel like they were tearing me up in my lower stomach but what they told me it was that the baby was on just one spot and she had streached my lower abs ligaments. Sadly theirs notthing you can do for this just wait it out. I would avoid fast movement or turning at night. Good thing you'll be done soon either way if its too much pain you can be confusing it with contractions go to the hospital in this case. With my last pregnancy, I had almost the exact same pains your describing. I started taking Tylenol PM, with the Dr's guidance, because my pain was so severe I couldn't sleep at all. It was caused, in my instance, from the baby being so low in the pelvis. The pelvic bones loosen to make room for the head, and when you lay down on your side, gravity causes them to settle again, thus why you have the pain when you are lying down instead of sitting up. Mine also would have me in pain bad enough to make me scream if I tried to roll over. My pelvic region would feel like it was tearing apart if I just tried to reposition. It felt better to sit up and then lay back down in a better position than to just roll over.
Try calling the hospital to see if they can tell you the dosage of Tylenol PM to take. Its not habit forming, and the sedative in it can relax you into sleep. And know that the end is in sight... My second baby came at 38wks. They will take you as early as 38 weeks if its not your first.
